When to Start Spring Decorating
Spring decorating can start as soon as you get that itch to start spring cleaning! When you find yourself craving open windows and bare feet, you should start spring decorating.
As a homemaker, you have a beautiful opportunity to create lasting and comforting memories of home for your children. But, how do you do this on a budget?
With people marketing at you from every angle and social media pressuring you into buying all new things every season, let’s take a moment to sit back and discover easy spring decorating ideas on a budget.

Tips to Save Money on Spring Decorating
1. Use what you have
The best way to save money on spring decorating is the easiest one: use what you have! If you are not a minimalist mom then you probably have little bits and bobs lying around the house, or tucked away, that you can pull out to change up your decor here and there.
2. Use what’s outside
Bring the outside in. Freshen up your table with wild flowers. Open the windows to let the fresh air in and purify your home.
3. Employ the senses
A cheap and easy way to spring decorate is to use your senses. Meaning, think about the smells, the textures, and the sounds that fill your home.
For example, play relaxing music, light some candles, smell fragrant flowers like lilacs. Use fresh herbs in your cooking to convey that spring fresh feeling in your meals.

4. Declutter and spring clean
As you’re going around your house, declutter and spring clean in order to “decorate” for spring. Spring is all about feeling fresh, and what better way than to freshen up your home after a long and dreary winter?
For instance, declutter your children’s toys after this past Christmas season, wipe out the cabinets or drawers you keep them in, dust your shelves, wipe down your base boards. You’d be surprised at what a little cleaning TLC will do for your home!

5. Use your gifts!
Use the gifts that God has given you in order to decorate your home. Are you a painter, musician, baker, learning to sew, good at hosting parties, good at organizing? Identify your gifts from God by focusing on what activities fill you up rather than drain you. Then, pour into those aspects of homemaking in your spring decorating.
For example, I love to paint, so this spring I am painting decorative florals and animal motifs on my kitchen cabinets. I also enjoy hosting so I am hosting a SAHM picnic playdate.

Easy Spring Decorating Ideas
Move things around
Move around the decor items that you already have! Do you have any extra things hidden away that you can pull out? Things such as vases for spring flowers, different photos in your picture frames, or different pillows and blankets for your living areas?
Another idea is to move certain items from your upstairs areas or bedrooms down into the main living areas.
Think about functionality
How is your home functioning for you? Can you move around some of the furniture in order to make your home more efficient? Simple spring decorating is as easy as altering things here and there as you go about your spring cleaning.
Clean as you go
Don’t forget to clean as you go! Dust your shelves as you move books and houseplants around. Vacuum under the chairs you’re moving and wipe down cabinets you are cleaning out. Don’t forget to dust fans and ceiling lights, as well as windows and base boards.
Learn to sew
Find a sewing machine on the facebook marketplace and make some of your own decor items such as this farmhouse ruffled pillow. Filling your home with the soothing sound of a sewing machine will create such sweet memories for your children!

Enjoy the spring time nature
An easy spring decorating idea is to put a Bird feeder by a window you and your family often sit by. You can watch the birds flutter and hear their sweet sounds.
Hit the thrift store
Use those rainy days to check out your local thrift store for spring decorating ideas on a budget! This will double as a good excuse to get out of the house for a SAHM!
Change out your candlesticks
If you have candlestick holders, changing out the color of the candlesticks each season is a cheap and easy way to freshen up your home decor. Have your kids help you pick the color! They will love getting involved.
